Welcome to LGBTQ Services!!!

Our Vision

GMU’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender & Questioning (LGBTQ) Services is one component of the Office of Diversity Programs & Services (ODPS). We envision a Mason campus community where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, same-gender-loving, and questioning people and our allies are fully included, welcomed, and treated with equity in every respect; where people of all sexual orientations and gender identities are free to successfully live, work, love and learn without fear, hate, or intolerance; and where justice, equality and respect for all prevail.

Our Mission

GMU’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender, and Questioning Services works to create, sustain, and strengthen an open, safe, welcoming, inclusive campus environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, and same-gender-loving students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their families and friends.

LGBTQ Services accomplishes our mission by:

Providing direct services to LGBTQ students; including advising, advocacy, counseling and referral, education & training, group and workshop facilitation, and leadership development.

Offering a safe, open, welcoming space for all people interested in understanding LGBTQ issues; this physical meeting space is designed to promote both visibility and sense of community for all who wish to participate.

Assisting students in building communities of care, support, and trust; both within LGBTQ communities and across lines of gender, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, culture, religion, and other identity groups.

Developing and conducting programs and co-curricular, educational, cultural, and social opportunities for students, faculty and staff on LGBTQ issues.

Providing consultation, education, technical assistance, training, and resources to faculty, staff, administration, GMU offices and departments, and others interested in ensuring that their services are inclusive and welcoming for LGBTQ issues.

Collaborating with Mason faculty, staff, and with other institutions and community agencies to facilitate student development.
