The holiday season can be a time of both celebration and anxiety for LGBTQ+ folks. There are students who go home to a range of acceptance from being in the closet for fear of violence in many forms to being set up on dates by their families. Additionally, some students’ home is Mason due to being rejected from their families or they choose not to go home for a variety of reason.
Here are a number of resources that might be helpful to LGBTQ+ folks who are navigating the holidays:

- 8 Queer tips to get through the holidays (n.d.)
- A guide to going home for {Winter} Break: Resources for LGBTQ+ students by University of Michigan’s Spectrum Center (n.d.)
- Self-Care during the holiday season by The Trevor Project (2015)

For LGBTQ+ students at Mason who cannot or will not be going home for the holiday and already live on-campus, please email Josh Kinchen (he/him), Associate Director for LGBTQ+ Resources at jkinchen@gmu.edu for the most up-to-date options for staying the residence halls for Winter Break.
