LGBTQ+ Resources Center

QT BIPOC Initiative

First piloted in Fall 2023, our QT BIPOC Initiative works to build community in GMU’s campus community for Queer and/or Trans Black, Indigenous, and People of Color folks.

In partnership with undergraduate center interns who are hired, trained, and compensated by the LGBTQ+ Resources Center, our continued focus in the 2025-2026 academic year is building community via regular meet-ups, visibility, and outreach to other student groups so GMU students, faculty, and staff who are QT BIPOC, and people those who support them, can have space and find each other.

We are lucky to also work with Juton Myers in African and African American Studies Program, who serves as an advisor to the group, and is deeply invested in this work.

When our QT BIPOC center interns start in August, we will be able to share our schedule for regular meet-ups and where you can find more information or engage with us virtually — checking the LGBTQ+ Resources Center’s Mason 360 event page is a good bet to see any upcoming programs.
